Raider Recap 6-16-18 (Plus Trivia Answer)

Sectional final Saturday, oh what a day it was. Both baseball and girls lacrosse were vying for that sectional championship trophy, with baseball looking for their second in a row, while girls lacrosse was looking for their first in program history in their appearance in a south final since 2010. We’ll see if they got it done momentarily, but first here’s the answer to yesterday’s trivia question. The team that girls tennis beat in 2016 to win the state title was… Nashoba. It was day one of two in sectional final action for Raider teams as today girls tennis took center stage as they took on Bay State Conference foe Brookline in the D1 South final. Could the girls make it 2 sectional titles in 3 years, lets find out!

Spring Reviews/ Summer Programming

As we get to the end of the spring sports season it’s time to look ahead to what’s to come in terms of the end of the spring/ start of the summer season. Following the conclusion of the state tournaments I will post spring season reviews for each team, and then in terms of summer programming don’t you worry there will be a lot of exciting stuff. Each day I will post a daily little league schedule and then as often as I can will post little league recaps. Stay tuned for all the excitement!

Despite the threat of rain on this hump day both Raider’s tournament events got in this afternoon as baseball looked to earn a second straight trip to the south finals as they faced Xaverian while girls golf competed for a state championship. Would they both come up big winners, lets find out!

The lacrosse tournament took center stage this afternoon as both the boys and the girls looked to earn spots in the south sectional finals, as they took on BC High and Old Rochester respectively.  The boys were looking for their first D1 South finals trip ever while the girls were looking to get back for the first time since 2010. Could they both get over their respective humps, lets find out!

Wellesley Little League Crowns AL Champions

With the excitement of the high school postseason taking center stage, there is also excitement on the youth level in town as the annual Wellesley Little League American League finals took place over the last two days at Reidy Field. The best 2 out of 3 title series pitted the Indians from the South division against the Tigers from the North division. The Indians would take home the title in a two game sweep winning 10-7 and 12-5 respectively. Congratulations to the Indians and their coaches Dean McCausland, Scott Hudler, Matt Stein, and Mark Cohen on the title, and congratulations to the Tigers and their coaches Greg Ciongoli, John Lee, and Spencer Zwick on a tremendous season.
