It’s the last Friday of June, the last day of June to be exact and thus the last June edition of Raider Friday Trivia. Today’s question is… what was the best finish for a Wellesley Little League Williamsport team prior to joining district 10 in 2011? Answer tomorrow!

The calendar has turned to the last day of June and it is going to be a busy Friday night of little league action including the first Reidy doubleheader of the summer season. Let’s take a look at whose in action on this Friday!

3 new varsity head coaches will join the Raider athletics program this coming fall per a tweet from athletic director John Brown today. The 3 new hires are Tasha Odemwingle for girls volleyball, Cat Whitehall for girls soccer, and Tim Broe for girls cross country. We would like to wish all 3 of these coaches best of luck as they begin a new chapter in their respective sports this fall.

On this second to last day of June it’s another full night of little league action, on both the baseball and softball side of things. Here’s a look at what’s in store!

The clock and calendar has flipped to a new week and that mean’s it’s time for another edition of Monday Poll. Last week’s poll was a landslide as Summer Olympics took the title 6 votes to 1. It is the first official week of the little league baseball and softball summer travel seasons and thus the first weekly schedule for the summer season. Just because it is summer does not mean that the Sports Blitz will be slowing down at all, in fact we will keep right on going some more material including some new features. Starting tomorrow I’ll be taking a look back at all 3 seasons of the 2016-17 school year, plus later today will be rolling out the first of the summer little league weekly schedules, and lastly introducing a new feature this summer, as to go along with the weekly little league schedule we will also be doing starting tomorrow the daily little league schedule.

After helping lead his Raider baseball team to a fairy-tale tournament run, a south sectional title, and the schools first ever state finals berth, head coach Rob Kane got the recognition he deserved today as we named the Boston Globe’s coach of the year for division 1. Kane’s teams have earned a tournament berth in each of his 11 years as coach and look primed to be one of the favorites in division 1 next season. Congratulations to Coach Kane on this tremendous accomplishment!
