With only girls tennis remaining as we enter the final week of the 2019 spring sports season instead of doing a weekly schedule I will post below the information regarding their state semifinal and possible state final. Also quick programming note, starting tomorrow I will begin posting the spring sports season reviews.
Girls Tennis will take on Acton-Boxborough tomorrow (6-17) at Newton North HS at 3:30 pm. The winner will advance to the state finals against the winner of Algonquin and Longmeadow to take place Wednesday at St John’s HS in Shrewsbury, time tbd. Stay tuned for tomorrow’s Raider Recap to see if the girls earned a spot in the ultimate match!
Trophies were on the line today for 3 Raiders in the Individual Tennis State Finals as Harry Collomb and the doubles pair of Haley Genta and Maria Laso looked to capture the crowns. Before we get to that however it’s time to answer yesterday’s trivia question. There are currently 6 Bay State Conference teams left in MIAA play, 2 in boys volleyball (Natick, Newton North), 1 in girls lacrosse (Walpole), 2 in boys tennis (Brookline, Walpole) and 1 in girls tennis (Wellesley). In the midst of the Bruins game 7 build up and hoopla, there was some exciting Raider action yesterday as girls tennis, the lone remaining tournament team from Wellesley looked to capture a D1 South sectional crown as they faced top seeded Sharon in the battle of undefeated’s. Could the girls take home the hardware, lets find out!

Girls advance to face Acton-Boxborough in State Semifinals!
For girls lacrosse and boys tennis the quest for sectional titles and in girls lacrosse’s case a repeat sectional and state crown today was certainly the toughest test of the postseason with both taking on the top seeds in their respective brackets. Girls lacrosse faced off with Westwood while boys tennis battled Brookline. Could either move one step closer to the ultimate prize, lets find out!

For the third consecutive year the baseball team squared off with Durfee in a postseason contest. Having won each of the last two year’s meetings, the boys were looking to make it three peat and keep their hopes for a third straight sectional final berth alive. Could they pull it off or would Durfee make it third times the charm, lets find out!
