It was an exciting Saturday of Raider action as both indoor track teams competed at the all state meet at the Reggie Lewis Center while Josh Cohen of wrestling looked to capture the all state championship at St. John’s Prep. Before we get to that however it’s time to answer yesterday’s Raider Friday Trivia question. The last time that girls basketball faced Whitman Hanson in the tournament was back in 2008 in the D2 South quarterfinals, which the Raiders won at home 54-25 on the way to the school’s first state championship. Now onto the recap!

Results for 2-24-18

Boys Indoor Track: Finished seventh at all state meet

Girls Indoor Track: Finished first at all state meet

Hockey Tournament Info Released

Yesterday it was basketball learning their tournament fate, today it was boys and girls hockey who learned their tournament fate and it turned out to be a pretty interesting selection Saturday. The boys hockey team earned a nomination during the Super 8 selection meeting and made it thru the first round of voting before failing to reach enough votes in the second round of consideration. That puts them in the D1 South bracket where they will be either the 1 or 2 seed based on Monday’s Super 8 play in games. The full bracket will be released following those games. Meanwhile the Raider girls earned the number 1 seed in the D2 bracket and will take on the winner of Winchester/Wakefield in the first round at a time and place tbd. As always for the complete brackets you can log on to miaa.ezstream.com.

Raider Friday Trivia

I know it’s a little later than usual today but better late than never for the last February edition of Raider Friday Trivia! Today’s question is… when was the last time that girls basketball faced Whitman-Hanson in the MIAA tournament? Answer tomorrow!

Basketball Tournament Bracket Info

Today was day 1 of 2 of the winter sport tournament bracket as both boys and girls basketball learned their fates this afternoon. The boys earned the 9 seed in D1 South and will travel to face BC High Tuesday night at 6:30 with the winner moving on to face the winner of Mansfield/Newton South. The girls meanwhile earned a home game yet again as they earned the 6 seed in D1 South and will host Whitman-Hanson Wednesday night at 6:30 with the winner moving on to face the winner of Mansfield/Newton North. The full brackets can be found at miaa.ezstream.com.

Once those brackets are released I will post that information to the blog, so stay tuned!
