Terriers Begins Friday Night Flag Football Program

While the Raider Varsity football team was battling Natick just down the road tonight Terriers Sports had a battle of their own going on in town with the beginning of their Friday night flag football program. Below find a preview of the program courtesy of Joe Roberts from an email sent to parents and also a picture from the first night courtesy of Wellesley Sport’s Blitz number 1 supporter Leone Johnson.

We look forward to your child enjoying our Terriers Friday Night Lights Flag Football program!
We are really looking forward to providing Middle School students with a fun and healthy way to enjoy Friday nights and sincerely thank you all for helping us get this program started!
We are pleased to report that we currently have 31 kids registered, with additional players joining daily.
For tonight’s session we will group participants into two teams. Each team will then be divided into two groups, with each group rotating in and out of the game. This ensures equal playing time for everyone, and allows participants to get brief periods of rest while they cheer on their teammates. We are right on the edge of being able to create four teams for future sessions and will make that determination for next week’s session. Team shirts will be provided at next week’s session as well. Our program will culminate with a tournament for a Championship Bucket. Kids always enjoy this and also learn valuable lessons in sportsmanship.
Please take a moment to review a brief program overview below.
Terriers Friday Night Lights Flag Football
Fridays, September 25, October 2, 9, 16 & 23, 7:00 – 8:15pm, under The Lights at The Hunnewell Fields, Washington Street
Our number one priority is always the safety and enjoyment of each participant. If your child has a medical or developmental condition we should be aware of, please let us know.
Please make sure to have your child bring a drink to each session. Please make sure they also bring a sweatshirt – or at a minimum long sleeves – to each session.
Parents are welcomed to enjoy watching the program, but are not required to.
After the program, our staff will remain at the field until 8:30pm. Unless you request otherwise participants will be allowed to leave on their own.
For the first few minutes of each session – as participants arrive – we have a “free play” period, for the kids to enjoy unstructured fun running around throwing balls to each other. We believe it is important for kids to enjoy unstructured play – something they don’t get enough of these days. So while this “free play” period may appear to be a bit “loose” – we do want parents to know that we are intentionally letting the kids “do their own thing”. Our Staff watches and supervises to make sure they are engaging in safe and appropriate activities and having fun.
All games will be played with no tackling and no contact rules. As in any sport, incidental contact may happen, but our staff will make sure to limit any contact during the program.
