Only two games today both at home but both with big implications especially football who was looking to remain undefeated in stay in the race for the Herget title. Before we get to that though the answer to yesterday’s trivia question is… Newton South as Dietrick and Dixon both eclipsed the 1000 point mark in the Raiders D1 South quarterfinal victory over the Lions at the old Larsson Gym back in 2010. Calling all Raider fans, it’s time for another trip down memory lane in Wellesley sports. This time I’m looking for some of the better coaches that our readers have had in their time playing sports in Wellesley. Whether it be little league, CYO, or high school I want the coaches that made playing sports memorable for you the reader. Let me know and I’ll compile a list based on your responses.

So for round 1 of 2 of Raider trivia this week is answer is… drum roll… 1999. That’s right prior to their 7-6 victory over Walpole Saturday afternoon the Wellesley High football team had not beaten the Rebels since a 22-8 victory back in 1999. Just to put that in perspective that was the year after currently Wellesley High head coach Jesse Davis graduated WHS and actually was the last year the Raider football program made the playoffs and/or won a superbowl.

So I missed Raider trivia Friday last Friday so to make up for it I’m doing a double dose this week, one question today and another on Friday. So today’s question is, prior to this past Saturday when was the last time Wellesley beat Walpole in football? Stay tuned for the answer tomorrow.
