The Week Ahead

So with no games this week there is no need to put out a weekly schedule. However if you are looking for a little pre-thanksgiving game appetizer, next Saturday the freshmen and JV football teams will take on Needham in a double header at Sprague Field with the JV kicking off at 10 am and the Freshmen at noon. Speaking of Thanksgiving football this week on the blog we will be previewing the Thanksgiving game from both the Needham and Wellesley perspective and will have some trivia on the rivalry as well, so look out for all that this week!

Raider Recap 11-14-15

BoysWell as I said today was a very busy day in Raider Nation as two Raider teams (Volleyball and Boys Soccer) competed for sectional titles while football played host to Quincy on senior day. Could they get a win heading into thanksgiving and would there be some sectional hardware coming home to Wellesley, let’s find out.

Boys Soccer: Brockton 4 Wellesley 0 MIAA D1 South Final

The boys finish their season with an 11-6-3 record, congratulations on a tremendous season and best of luck to the seniors going forward.

Girls Volleyball: Concord Carlisle 3 Wellesley 1 MIAA D1 Central/West Final

The girls finish with an 18-3 record, congratulations on an awesome season and also best of luck to the seniors.

Football: Quincy 6 Wellesley 0

Girls Swimming: Finished 5th at the South Sectionals at MIT. Lily Gribbel finish in first in the 50 and 100 fly events.

Boys Cross Country: Took first place in Division 2 at Eastern Mass Championships

Raider Recap 11-13-15 (Trivia Answer)

Well no games today but tomorrow is shaping up to be quite the day in Raider Sports with 2 teams (Boys Soccer and Volleyball) competing for sectional titles while football plays their final home game at 10 am vs Quincy. For those of you who can not get out to the game you can get all the results right here tomorrow night in the Raider Recap. That being said I do have the Raider trivia Friday answer and it is… Acton Boxborough. That’s right the Wellesley South Little Leaguers captured the towns first little league state title with a 4-3 walk off win vs AB back in 2012, the team would then go on to the regionals in Bristol Connecticut where they would advance to the semifinals before falling to New Hampshire.

Well it’s Friday folks which means that it’s time for some trivia!!! Todays question is, in 2012 the Wellesley South Little Leaguers captured the towns first ever state little league championship, what team did they defeat in the state championship game? Look for the answer later tonight!

So there were no actual games today but I do have a programming note on the boys soccer sectional final game. The game will be played Saturday at 4 pm at Marshfield High School against Brockton. Good luck to the boys and hope they bring home a sectional title!

The boys advance to the sectional finals where they will take Brockton on Saturday, time and location TBA.

Raider Recap 11-10-15

So tonight was a big one for girls volleyball as they hosted rival Natick in the D1 Central West Semifinals. To the winner would go a berth in the sectional final on Saturday. Could the Raiders advance to their first sectional final since 2012, let’s find out.

It was a big day for the Wellesley Boys Soccer team as they played host to Xaverian in the D1 South Sectional Quarterfinals. With a date with rival Needham on the line would the Raiders pull out a victory, let’s find out.
