Community Investors, a non-profit organization serving the Wellesley youth community, is pleased to announce two new and exciting events in March.
“DodgeFest” will be an afternoon celebration of youth activity, featuring Dodgeball tournaments, performances from local youth bands, student art exhibits and an open gym for “free play”. The event will raise funds to support no-fee “Play For All” after school recreational programs at Wellesley Middle School and Wellesley Public School Parent Teacher Organizations (PTOs). Dodgeball tournaments will be held for Elementary, Middle School, High School and (yes) Parents, with teams competing to win DodgeFest Championship Buckets! Held Saturday March 19th, from 2-8 pm at Wellesley High School, “DodgeFest” will be co-hosted by “Wellesley Rocks” & Community Investors.
“The State of Play – Challenges & Opportunities in Youth Sports” will be a community discussion featuring Bob Bigelow, former NBA player and nationally recognized speaker. Bigelow will be joined by a panel of community members to add perspective on the many psychological and physical issues in today’s youth sports environment. Held Monday, March 21st, from 7-9pm in The Wellesley Middle School auditorium, “State of Play” will be co-hosted by The Wellesley Youth Commission & Community Investors.
“We look forward to hosting “a day of play” and “a night of perspective and reflection”, stated Joe Roberts, President of Community Investors. “While different experiences, both events will support our mission of helping kids connect, build life and leadership skills through community based recreation.”
