It was certainly a busy Saturday for Raider fans as the wrestling team traveled to Weymouth for a quad meet, while boys and girls hockey took on Natick. Before we get to the recap however it’s time to reveal the answer to yesterday’s Raider Friday Trivia question. The answer is…Gillette Stadium is the only Massachusetts pro sports facility that a Wellesley team has not played at, as both basketball and hockey have played at the Garden and football played at Fenway. As first reported yesterday by the Dan Ventura of the Boston Herald Henry Weycker, a sophomore pitcher on the Raider baseball team has given his verbal commitment to play at Virginia Tech. As a freshmen Weycker was one of the aces of the Raider’s staff helping lead the club to yet another postseason berth. I had the chance to catch up briefly with Weycker this morning to get his thoughts on the commitment, and here’s what he had to say. “It was a great feeling when I got off the phone with Virginia tech. I couldn’t be happier with the decision I made. My family and friends had all been great during this process.” Wellesley Sports Blitz would like to send it’s biggest congratulations to Weycker on this momentum decision.
