Hope everyone is having a fun time digging out of yet another snow storm this morning here in New England. That being said, it’s a perfect time for another edition of Monday poll! Last week’s poll got the most votes so far out of any of these segments as out of the 16 votes Julian Edelman’s catch in Super Bowl 51 edged out David Tyree’s catch in Super Bowl 42 10 votes to 6. This week’s poll will be more Wellesley sports related as this week’s poll is… what is your favorite season for watching sports, winter, spring, summer or fall? Answer next week!

It is the second to last week of the winter sports regular season, and while most Raider teams have locked up spots in the upcoming state tournament, there is still the question of seeding, and for the boys basketball team a tournament spot in and of itself on the line. It was a cold, snowy, and busy Saturday for Raider fans as both hockey teams squared off with Dedham, wrestling headed to Natick High for sectionals, and gymnastics headed over to Newton North for the Bay State Conference championships. Before we get to the results however, it’s time to reveal the answer to yesterday’s trivia question. The last time both basketball teams won at least 1 tournament game in the same season was… 2012/13 when both teams advanced to the South Sectional semifinals before the boys fell to Milton in the D2 South bracket and the girls fell to Braintree in the D1 South bracket. No one got the correct answer this week so the gift card will have to wait another week. Now onto the recap!

It was all about the hoops on this Friday as both Raider hoop teams squared off against Dedham, which was the last ever meeting with Dedham as a Bay State Conference opponent as Dedham is moving to the Tri-Valley League next year. How would both teams fare, let’s find out!

The girls were looking to keep their tight grasp on the Herget Division while the boys were looking to at least remain in a first place tie with Natick. Hope everyone had a great Super Bowl Sunday, I know personally I’m still in a bit of shock at the result of the game last night, but as the 2004 post World Series Manny Ramirez commercial says, “If this is a dream, don’t wake us up!” Speaking of the Super Bowl last week’s Monday Poll was a dead tie as out of the 4 votes 2 went for the Pats and 2 went for the Falcons. I figured this week I’d ride the Super Bowl theme one more time before getting back to Wellesley related polls.
