With today being the first day back to school after April break it also signified the start of the little league baseball season in town and that is where we begin our first Youth Sports Recap. Here’s a look at the results from around town.

It was the first day back to school for the kids of Wellesley and it was a beautiful Monday for a full day of Raider sports action, as some teams tried to keep momentum from over break going while others tried to pick up where they had left off from before break. It’s the last Monday of April and spring time weather has definitely hit here in New England, and it also is a perfect time for another edition of Monday Poll. Last week’s poll asked where in Wellesley was your favorite place to watch the marathon and we actually for the first time in Monday Poll history had a tie for the top spot with both Wellesley Center and Other receiving two votes a piece. This week’s poll question is…what is your favorite food item to have at a sporting event, hot dog, pizza, popcorn, or other? Comment with your answers!

With the end of April vacation not only does the high school sports season kick into high gear but the youth sports season also begins on the many fields around town. This year along with my usual Raider recaps for the high school teams, I will also each night be posting youth recaps with the results from the many youth games around town. Keep a look out for that and if you are a coach or a parent of a player of a youth team around town and would like to submit any sort of game recap of your own for your child’s team please feel free to email them to me!

It may not have been the nicest day outside today but that didn’t stop boys lacrosse from heading over to Dover Sherborn for their battle with Andover on the final day of the Coaches Challenge. Coming in at 1-1 on the tournament the boys were looking to end the challenge on a high note prior to getting back into conference play next week. Would they be successful… let’s find out!

Yesterday I asked the question which two Wellesley Little League teams played the first game at the new Reidy Field? The answer is… The Red Sox and Yankees of the American League. Interestingly enough those were the same two teams who met in the first AL finals played at the new and improved Reidy! Have a happy Saturday!

It was a gloomy dreary day today but that didn’t stop girls lacrosse from taking on Dover-Sherborn at home this morning. Fresh off their Beantown Shootout championship the girls were looking to keep the good times rolling as they faced the Blue Raiders. Would they get the job done, let’s find out!

It may be a rainy gloomy Friday out but that doesn’t mean we can’t spice it up a bit with some Raider Friday Trivia! Today’s question is… who were the first two teams to play on the current edition of Reidy Field? Answer tomorrow!

Today was all about the lax as both boys and girls lacrosse were in action as the boys took on Winchester on day 2 of the Coaches Challenge while the girls took on Boston Latin in the championship game of the Beantown Shootout. Would both teams come up with big wins, let’s find out!
