How fitting that the last team to finish their 2017 spring season is one of the first teams that we take a look back at to close out spring 2017. The baseball team finished their regular season 11-9, and then preceded to go on a Cinderella run capturing the program’s first ever D1 South title and first South title since 2005 and then advanced to the state finals where they fell 5-1 to Taconic. With several key players returning next season including ace pitcher Henry Weycker the Raiders are already being talked about as one of the favorites in the Bay State league and in D1 in 2018.
Meanwhile softball had a tough time in 2017 as the team finished the season 5-15, failing to qualify for the state tournament. However the Raiders did end their season by winning 2 straight against Natick and Weymouth which hopefully gives them good momentum heading into 2018. The girls will try to break a bit of a tournament drought over the last few years when they begin the 2018 spring campaign.
Keep an eye out tomorrow as we will review both boys and girl’s lacrosse 2017 season’s.
