Happy hump day everyone, and to all the school aged children in Wellesley happy summer vacation! Today we continue our look back at the 2017 spring season by taking a look at the boys and girls tennis teams who both continued their successful trends over the years with deep tournament runs this season. The boys finished their regular season 16-2 earning the top seed in D1 South and went on defeat Framingham, Barnstable, BC High , and then Newton North to capture the D1 South title before falling in the state semifinals to Acton Boxborough. The boys will look to once again be in contention atop the Bay State and D1 South next season.
The girls meanwhile came into this season with high expectations coming off a D1 state championship in 2016. The girls finished their regular season unblemished at 16-0 earning the 2 seed in D1 South. The girls then went on to defeat Bishop Feehan, North Attleborough, and Newton North before falling to top seeded Sharon in the D1 South finals. Despite coming up a bit short this year the girls certainly should be one of the favorites in 2018 to compete for their second state title in three seasons.
