The first of two state championship competitions involving Raider teams took place today as girls golf headed out to Charlton for the state championship match. The girls who have had the successful season to this point, were looking to go out on top. Could they capture the ultimate crown, let’s find out!

Per the MIAA website this afternoon the D1 baseball state championship game between your Wellesley Raiders and Taconic will be held Saturday at 3:15 pm at Fitton Field on the campus of Holy Cross in Worcester. For those who can not make it to the game, it will be broadcast live on nfhsnetwork.com.

Over the next 2 days we will take a look ahead to Saturday’s baseball state title game beginning today with a look at Wellesley’s opponent Taconic. The Eagles come in champions of the Western Mass bracket, here’s a look at how they got here.

For the 2017 Wellesley Raider baseball team the MIAA state tournament will be one that players and coaches alike will remember for the rest of their lives. The 13th seed in the D1 South bracket the team rode an absolutely Cinderella-esque run to the D1 South title and a date with Lowell in the D1 State Semifinals. For the Raiders a chance to play for the ultimate goal, a state championship was within their grasp. Could they keep this run going to the ultimate game, let’s find out!

Team advances to face Taconic in D1 State Finals!

It was the first of back to back nights of state semifinal contests involving Raider teams as boys tennis headed to Lexington to take on Acton Boxborough in the D1 State Semifinals. Could the boys punch their ticket to a state final, let’s find out!

Summer is here with a vengeance on this Monday but despite the hot temps, it seems like the perfect time for another edition of Monday Poll! Last week’s question produced a two way tie at the top with both soccer and lacrosse receiving 3 votes each out of the 8 total votes cast. We have come to the last weekly schedule of the 2016-17 high school sports season! What a week to close it out, as two Raider teams compete for potential state title berths while girls golf goes for the state title. Since it is a small week games wise at this point I’m just going to post the days there are games, but will add as needed based on results! Let’s take a look at the week ahead!

It was the biggest game in at least the past decade for the Wellesley high baseball team as they headed to Campanelli Stadium in Brockton for the D1 South championship game against Bridgewater-Raynham. The Raiders who started out this tournament as the 13 seed with very low expectations have turned it into a cinderella and were looking to turn the glass slipper into their first south sectional title since 2005. Could they pull it off, let’s find out!

Team advances to D1 State Semifinals against Lowell Tuesday

It was the start of a very exciting weekend in Raider sports as two sectional finals were on the line for both boys and girls tennis, as they took on Newton North and Sharon respectively. For the girls especially there was a lot at stake, a 60+ match win streak and defending their state title. We’ll find out how it turned out in just a moment but first here’s the answer to the latest Raider Friday Trivia question. The Raider baseball team’s last sectional final opponent was… Bellingham in the 2005 D2 South final won by the Raiders 7-6. Now onto the recap!
