It is a Lou Tompkins themed Sunday of baseball as both teams are in action this evening. Let’s take a look at who they’re playing.

For the second year in a row a Wellesley Little League team had a shot at advancing to the state final four of the Williamsport tournament, as this time it was Wellesley North who looked to keep their undefeated tournament run going as they squared off with Melrose in the section 3 finals. The two teams played during pool play with Wellesley taking home a 22-2 win and were looking for lightning to strike twice on the bigger stage. In other action the Lou Tompkins B squad squared off with Reading at home looking to get their first win of the season. We’ll find out how both games went in a minute but first the answer to yesterday’s trivia question. The Wellesley South 2012 state championship team had 3 of their regional games broadcast by none other than the New England Sports Network (NESN) who broadcast the team’s win over New Hampshire and loss to Connecticut in the pool play round, as well as their loss to New Hampshire in the semifinals. Congratulations to North on a tremendous tournament run and best of luck to Melrose in the state final four.

It may be a light Saturday of game action but it’s a very important one especially for Williamsport North as they take on Melrose for the section 3 title and look to make it two years in a row that a Wellesley team has made the state final four. Let’s take a look at the full schedule!

It was another glorious night for baseball as Wellesley North looked to finish up section 3 pool play undefeated having already clinched a spot in Saturday’s championship game. In order to do so they would have to get by Allston-Brighton who was looking for their first win of the sectional. Could Wellesley keep the good times rolling, let’s find out!
