Boys Golf And Girls Swimming Recaps

Happy hump day everyone, and today we continue our fall sports recaps with boys golf and girls swimming, who full disclosure still has the state meet left this weekend. The boys golf team enjoyed yet another successful regular season finishing 13-3 overall, including going undefeated in league play. The team finished off its season with a 5th place finish at the sectionals match. While they certainly will lose some key pieces look for this squad to be once again a force to be reckoned with next fall.

The girls swim team as I said still has one meet left, as they will head to the state meet this weekend at WPI. The girls have already enjoyed quite the remarkable season, as they finished their regular season undefeated at 12-0, and then proceeded to take 2nd place at the Bay State meet, and first at sectionals. This team will certainly look to continue this success next season, but first things first we hope they have a very successful state meet! Stay tuned tomorrow as we will recap both the cross country teams.

Field Hockey And Girls Volleyball Recaps

As we continue along on this Tuesday morning, it’s time for day 2 of our 2017 fall sports recaps, as today we take a look back at the field hockey and girls volleyball teams. The field hockey team once again made it to the postseason after finishing the regular season 12-4-2, earning the 10 seed in D1 South. The girl’s shut out Hingham in the preliminary round but then went up against archival Needham and saw their season come to a disappointing end with a 1-0 loss to the Rockets. That being said there was still a lot to be proud of for this Raider team and look for them to be right back in the thick of things next season.

Meanwhile the girls volleyball team also earned a trip to postseason play for another season as they finished their regular season 11-5 under first year head coach Tasha Odemwingle, earning the number 9 seed in the D1 Central-West bracket. The girls went on the road and defeated Shepherd Hill in a thrilling 5 set match in the first round, but then could not overcome the top seeded Groton-Dunstable Crusaders in the quarterfinals losing 3-1. That being said this team fought and battled to the very end, and gives a lot of reason for optimism, as they will look to battle for another postseason berth in 2018. Stay tuned tomorrow as we take a look at boys golf and girls swimming!

Soccer Season Recaps

With the fall sports season in its final days, it’s time to look back at the season that was with our annual fall sports recaps. We start off today by taking a look back at both the boys and girls soccer teams who both achieved post-season berths in 2017. The girls, after missing the tournament in 2016, used that as motivation as under first year head coach Cat Whitehill the team battled its way to a 7-6-3 regular season mark earning the 15th seed in D1 South. After a 1-0 victory over Durfee in the preliminary round the team saw it’s postseason hopes dashed by Newton South as the girls fell 4-1 to the Lions. Despite that there’s a tremendous amount of reason for optimism for the Raiders as they’ll look build on this run next year.

The boy’s soccer team also had a very successful season, as they not only finished 13-2-1 overall in the regular season but captured the Bay State Herget crown in the process. That record earned the team the 2 seed in D1 South, where they defeated BC High 4-1 in the first round, before seeing their season cut short after a quarterfinal upset loss to Weymouth 3-2 in penalty kicks. That being said coach Tim Mason and his squad certainly have reason to be happy with this season, and will look to defend their conference title come fall of 2018. Keep an eye out tomorrow as  we will recap field hockey, and girls volleyball!
