Despite the threat of rain on this hump day both Raider’s tournament events got in this afternoon as baseball looked to earn a second straight trip to the south finals as they faced Xaverian while girls golf competed for a state championship. Would they both come up big winners, lets find out!

The lacrosse tournament took center stage this afternoon as both the boys and the girls looked to earn spots in the south sectional finals, as they took on BC High and Old Rochester respectively.  The boys were looking for their first D1 South finals trip ever while the girls were looking to get back for the first time since 2010. Could they both get over their respective humps, lets find out!

Girls Lacrosse: Wellesley 14 Old Rochester 3 D1 South Semifinals

Girls advance to face Notre Dame Academy in finals!

With the excitement of the high school postseason taking center stage, there is also excitement on the youth level in town as the annual Wellesley Little League American League finals took place over the last two days at Reidy Field. The best 2 out of 3 title series pitted the Indians from the South division against the Tigers from the North division. The Indians would take home the title in a two game sweep winning 10-7 and 12-5 respectively. Congratulations to the Indians and their coaches Dean McCausland, Scott Hudler, Matt Stein, and Mark Cohen on the title, and congratulations to the Tigers and their coaches Greg Ciongoli, John Lee, and Spencer Zwick on a tremendous season.

It was a beautiful day for some more thrilling tournament action on this Monday, as baseball, girls golf, and girls tennis all were vying to keep their seasons alive. Could all 3 live to play another day, lets find out!

Happy Monday everyone! As we get going on another week it is time for another edition of Monday Poll. Last week’s question saw the majority of you say that baseball would have the deepest tournament run this spring. This week’s question is… who will win the American League East this year, Red Sox, Yankees, or neither?

As we enter the second week of tournament play, there is still a tremendous amount of exciting tournament action to be had with both lacrosse teams, girls tennis, and baseball still remaining in the postseason picture. Like with last week’s schedule this one is subject to change based on results and I will only be listing the days that there are games. That being said here’s this weeks schedule!

There was only one tournament game on the docket today, but it was a big one as boys lacrosse traveled south to meet perennial power Duxbury in the D1 South quarterfinals. Duxbury eliminated the Raiders in the same round just a year ago, the second time the Dragons have eliminated the Raiders since they joined D1 South back in 2014. Before that result however let’s take a look at the answer to yesterday’s trivia question. The first opponent for baseball as a member of D1 South was… Franklin, a 6-3 win in the D1 South quarterfinals in 2014. Now onto the recap!
