The first of two action packed days of tournament play was today, as both tennis teams and girls lacrosse opened up what they all hope to be deep tournament runs. Which teams would move on, lets find out!

The final brackets of the 2018 spring postseason were unveiled today as both baseball and softball learned their fates. The weekly schedule has been updated and for full brackets you can log on to miaa.ezstream.com.

Baseball:

Earned 3 seed in D1 South and will host Natick in first round

Softball:

Earned 16 seed in D1 South and will host Plymouth North in preliminary round.

As we await the final bracket releases for the 2018 spring postseason (baseball and softball) the Wellesley baseball program got some recognition recently by the New England Baseball Journal. In their June edition the journal chronicled the town wide success in baseball over the last decade, including the high school team’s run to the state finals last year, two state Little League championships (2012,2016), and the drafting and subsequent career of Nate Freeman in MLB. It’s the first Monday in June and that means it’s time for the first June edition of Monday Poll. Last week’s poll results saw the overwhelming majority of you (15-1) say this Celtics season was a success. This week’s question is, which Raider sport will have a team make a deeper tournament run in the upcoming state tournament? Baseball, Tennis, Lacrosse or Softball?

It’s the most wonderful time of the year, or season I should say, playoff time! That’s right this week begins the spring season postseason and that means the schedules are subject to change based on results. To start I’m going to post the days where there are games and then add based on results.

Quick programming note, I will be away from the blog until Sunday so therefore it is time for another edition of Raider Friday Trivia on a Thursday. The question is…what is baseball’s all time post-season record under coach Rob Kane? Answer on Sunday!

It’s the last day of May and also the last day of the 2018 spring regular season, as the final two teams to finish up regular season play were baseball and girls golf who took on Algonquin and a tri match with Weymouth and Walpole respectively. Could both teams end the season on a high note, lets find out!
