Boys Golf And Girls Swimming Previews

On this second to last day of our fall sports previews, we take a look at both boys golf and girls swimming. Boys golf was very impressive in 2017 finishing 13-3, including an undefeated league mark. The team captured a 5th place finish at the sectionals match to close out the season. The boys did lose some key pieces but always seem to be in the hunt and I expect this year to be no different.

Girls swimming finished last season 12-0 and then captured second at the league meet, and first at sectionals, and then second at the state meet. The girls always are a force to be reckoned with in the pool, and I expect this year them to once again challenge on the league, sectional, and state level! Stay tuned tomorrow as we close out the week of previews with girls volleyball!

Cross Country Previews

As we continue here with our fall sport previews we take a look at both cross country teams, who are both coming off of tremendous 2017 seasons, looking to continue that success into 2018. The boys team finished 2017 a perfect 11-0 and then went on capture first at both the Bay State and Eastern Mass meets. This team never seems to rebuild, just reload and I would look for the same to happen in 2018 as they look at defend their league and sectional crowns!

The girls team enjoyed very similar success in 2017 finishing 10-1 overall. The girls also captured the Bay State title and then went on finish second in Eastern Mass. Like their male counterparts I fully expect the girls to make a run at defending that league crown, and this year capturing the top spot in their sectional! Tomorrow we will continue the previews with boys golf and girls swimming!

Soccer Previews

On day 2 of our fall sports previews we take a look at boys and girls soccer who both are coming off postseason appearances in 2017. Boys soccer finished 2017 13-2-1, defeating BC High in the tournament before falling in a heartbreaker to Weymouth. Under coach Tim Mason the Raiders are always a top contender in both the Herget and D1 South and I would look for that trend to continue as we begin 2018.

Girls soccer meanwhile began a new era last year under coach Cat Whitehill and tasted some postseason success of their own. After finishing 7-6-3, the girls defeated Durfee in their tournament opener before falling to Newton South. With a year under her belt look for Whitehill’s Raiders to be even more of a contender this year and to reach for bigger and better things in both league and sectional play. Stay tuned tomorrow as we’ll preview both Cross Country teams!

Football And Field Hockey Previews

Today we continue the beginning of our fall sports coverage with our first two team previews. We are taking a look at football and field hockey to lead things off on this Monday afternoon. Football is coming off a 6-5 season in 2017 which ended with a big win over Needham on Thanksgiving. Since Jesse Davis took the reins back in 2013 the team has never had a losing season and will look to continue that streak, and vie for both a Herget title and a postseason berth here in 2018.

Field Hockey once again tasted postseason success in 2017 finishing 12-4-2 before falling to Needham in the tournament. The Raiders are always a contender in both the league and D1 South, and look to be in the exact same boat as they enter the 2018 season. Stick with us tomorrow as we will roll out the previews for both boys and girls soccer!

Monday Poll

It’s another lovely Monday everyone, and you all know what that means, it’s time for Monday Poll! Last week’s poll question ended in a draw with tennis and golf receiving 6 votes each. This week’s poll question is…do you consider professional wrestling to be a real sport? Comment with your answers!
