With a couple of days in between Raider events I thought I’d fill the time by previewing a couple of the upcoming contests. Today I’ll preview football’s last pre-Thanksgiving tilt with Braintree coming up Friday night at Braintree. Here’s a look at both teams seasons to this point.

Wellesley:

It was a cold and wet Monday night at Needham’s Memorial Field but tensions were red hot as Wellesley and Needham squared off in the boys soccer D1 South quarterfinals. Needham beat the Raiders 1-0 back in September, could they make lightning strike twice, or would Wellesley exact revenge on the biggest stage, lets find out!

Boys move on to face winner of Hingham/Silver Lake in semifinals!

It’s the first full week in November, and with a new week comes another edition of Monday Poll! Last week’s poll saw 2004 squeak out a win as most enjoyable Red Sox title. Another week is upon us, and even though several Raider teams saw their seasons end last week, there is still a lot of action left to be played. As we turned the clocks back an hour to end this first weekend of November, there were 2 events on the docket today as football took on Newton North in their first consolation round contest, while girls swimming headed over to Wellesley College for the Bay State Conference Championships. How would it all turn out, lets find out!

It was certainly a busy day of tournament action as both soccer teams and field hockey looked to keep their seasons alive. Before we get to those results however it’s time to answer yesterday’s trivia question. The last time Wellesley and Concord Carlisle met in girls volleyball was in the 2015 D1 Central/West finals, a match won by the Patriots. Now onto the recap!

It was girls volleyball taking their turn in postseason play tonight as the girls headed to Concord Carlisle to square off with the Patriots in D1 Central/West first round action. Could the girls spike their way to an upset, lets find out!

TGIF, and the first Friday of November for that matter, so what better time for the first November edition of Raider Friday Trivia. Today’s question is…When was the last time Wellesley and Concord Carlisle met in a postseason girls volleyball match? Answer tomorrow!

As we kicked off the month of November today field hockey also kicked off their postseason run as the Raiders played host to Taunton in the D1 South preliminary round. Could the Raiders tame the Tigers and move on, lets find out!

Team advances to first round to face Somerset-Berkley!

The final brackets were released today for the fall sports postseason as both boys and girls soccer found out their tournament fates. The boys earned the 5th seed in the D1 South bracket and will host Weymouth in a rematch of last years first round contest. The winner of that game will take on the winner of Needham and Marshfield The girls meanwhile earned the 14 seed and will travel to Whitman Hanson, with the winner taking on the winner of Hingham and Franklin. The weekly schedule has been updated.
