Indoor Track Previews

As we reach the midway point of our week, and our winter sports previews. We take a look at both the boys and girls indoor track teams who come into 2018/19 looking to build on last seasons success. The boys finished last season 4-2 before finishing in 7th at the all state meet. Like their female counterparts the boys are always a contender at the top of both league and state meets and I would fully expect more of the same this year.

The girls meanwhile had certainly the banner worthy season a year ago as after finishing the season 7-0, they went on to capture both the Bay State and state title. The girls appear to be in prime position to defend those crowns this year and I would expect for them to be right up front yet again come the end of the season.

Stay tuned tomorrow as we’ll preview gymnastics and boy’s swimming!

Basketball Previews

On this second day of our winter sport previews we take a look at both the boys and girls basketball teams who are looking to both contend for tournament berths once again in 2018-19. The boys finished last year 14-7 falling in the first round of the tournament to BC High. Coach Mike Reidy always has his squad in contention in both league and sectional play and with a solid core returning that should once again be the case this season.

The girls meanwhile finished 16-6 overall last year, defeating Whitman-Hanson in the playoffs before falling to Mansfield in the south quarterfinals. The girls return the likes of Gianna Pali and Brooke Guiffre among others and with coach Glen Magpiong at the helm, you can rest assured this band of sisters will be right in the thick of things once again in 2018-19.

Stay tuned tomorrow as we take a look at both indoor track teams!

Hockey Preview

As we count down the days to the start of the winter sports regular season, it’s time to begin our week of previews and what better way to start than with boys and girls hockey, who both had tremendous even banner worthy seasons a year ago. The boys finished last season with an 16-3-2 overall mark, capturing another Herget title and defeated Framingham in the D1 South tournament before falling to Xaverian. The boys return several key pieces and should be a contender once again in both the conference and D1 South.

Now onto the girls, who had a season to remember last year, as the girls went 19-2-3 overall capturing a Herget title of their own. They then went on to defeat Winchester, Norwell, Algonquin, before defeating Canton at the Garden to capture the programs first state title since 2006. The girls also return several key pieces to last years title team and will certainly be one of the early favorites to defend both their league and state crown in 2018/19.

Stay tuned tomorrow as we will preview both boy’s and girl’s basketball!

Monday Poll

It’s the first Monday of December which means it’s a glorious time for another edition of Monday Poll. Last week’s question saw more than half the total votes (8/13) go to the Bruins for team that is playing best currently. This week’s question is… Who will win this year’s college football playoff, Alabama, Clemson, Notre Dame, or Oklahoma? Comment with your answers!
