More exciting tournament action tonight as the Raider boys hockey team squared off with Franklin in the first round of the D1 South bracket, being the 13th seed against the 4th seeded Panthers the Raiders were heavy underdogs but could the team pull off the upset, let’s find out!

It was the first day of March and the first day of the tournament season as the Raider girls basketball team opened up D1 South Sectional play with a home game against Bridgewater Raynham. Would the heavily favored Raiders cruise to an opening round victory, let’s find out!

Raiders advance to play at Attleboro Thursday

Well after tonight’s Super 8 play in games it is official now that the Raider boys hockey team will take on Franklin in the first round of the D1 South tournament. Time and date are still tba so stay tuned to this weeks schedule as as soon as it is announced I will post it there.

As the catchy holiday jingle goes, “It’s the most wonderful time of the year” and that it certainly is as we enter the postseason for the winter sports season. Like with any postseason this weeks schedule will be changing based on how teams fare so keep an eye out, here’s what we have so far.

Today was the second of two days of MIAA bracket releases and we found out at least where the girls hockey team will be playing as they earned the 3 seed in D2 Girls. The girls will host the winner of Shrewsbury and Leominster on Friday night at 5:30 at Babson. Meanwhile the boys will have to wait till Monday night and the results of the super 8 play in game to get their official seeding and matchup in the tournament.

So exciting news today as the girls basketball tournament brackets were announced including for your Raider girls basketball team. The girls were seeded 5th in the D1 South Bracket and will host 12th seeded Bridgewater Raynham in the first round this coming Tuesday (March 1st) at 6:30 pm. Speaking of Raider hoops we have an answer to today’s trivia question. The first team that the Raider boys faced in the new high school gym was… Needham! The boys took on the Rockets in their home opener of the 2012-13 season, unfortunately falling to their archrivals. Congratulations to Rebekah Caron who is this weeks contest winner winning the two silver passes!

Today’s trivia includes two AMC Silver Passes up for grabs. The question on this lovely Friday is… who was the first opponent for the Raiders Boys Basketball team in the new high school gym? Answer and hopefully winner later tonight!
